Bots, Brushes, and Brainwaves: What You Said About AI + Creativity
AI is shaking up creativity in wild ways—but what does that mean for real artists? Love Yer Brain asked our community to weigh in. The answers were fiery, thoughtful, hilarious, and full of heart. Discover the drink that fuels real creativity – shop Love Yer Brain
AI is everywhere right now—generating images, writing songs, even pitching ideas for your next big project. So we asked the Love Yer Brain community a question:
“AI is all the rage these days, but let’s talk creativity — what does it mean to you?”
And wow… you had thoughts.
Some of you were curious and cautiously optimistic:
“Creativity is unique like fingerprints… just like a paintbrush, AI is a tool that can be used to design whatever you can dream.”
“All great artists have embraced new tools. Some even invent their own. I think humans can use AI to express themselves.”
“Why can’t AI do my chores so I can do my art?”
“It’s great for the not-fun parts of the job, so there’s more time for the fun part—creating.”
And hey, we get it. We’re all for weird tools that help unlock something real inside you.
But others? Not feeling the robot revolution:
“AI art isn’t art. It’s lazy, uninspired, and not earned.”
“It’s killing art because it spits out bastardized versions of real artists’ work.”
“Fuck generative AI. Buy art from real degenerate artists.”
“Please don’t ever let your tour posters be done by AI… that’s depressing to me.”
You told us AI lacks the one thing that makes art art: soul.
Some of you landed in the gray space in between. You had big questions:
“Will AI ever make mistakes? The kind of mistakes that make art better?”
“Can it understand the feeling of building a tree fort out of branches and calling it art?”
“Why do we feel the need to automate imagination in the first place?”
“If a robot takes a walk for you… can you still enjoy the walk?”
And perhaps most beautifully:
“Creativity is an impulse, an obsession… AI will never make the thoughtful things that reach your core.”
We think this one said it best:
“When [AI] fills the stage with aliens and butterflies, climbs onto the shoulders of a bear, shoots lasers out of giant green hands onto a disco ball that refracts light all around the arena… then maybe it’ll compete with creative human minds. Until then, it fills the void of the uninspired.”
